Kemp Praises Hunter’s Commitment to Service
Pat Kemp, Hillsborough County Commissioner representing Countywide District 6, today announced her endorsement of Chris Hunter who is running for Congress in Florida’s 12th district.
Hunter is a former federal prosecutor and FBI agent. He most recently served as a senior federal prosecutor with the United States Department of Justice on our nation’s health care fraud strike force. He resigned from the Justice Department to run for Congress.
“Chris Hunter has served our community with distinction as a federal prosecutor leading the fight against health care fraud in Tampa Bay,” Kemp stated. “He worked tirelessly to protect the Medicare and TRICARE programs for our military families, our older friends and neighbors, and those with disabilities. He will be a thoughtful leader in Congress for his district and our region.”
Pat Kemp has served as Hillsborough County Commissioner for Countywide District 6 since 2016 and has served in numerous other leadership roles throughout Tampa Bay. She is a leader in transit planning and sustainability practices and serves on the board of HART, the Metropolitan Planning Organization, and the Tampa Bay Regional Transportation Authority. She previously served as Chief Aide to Congresswoman Kathy Castor when Congresswoman Castor served on the Hillsborough County Commission. In addition, she worked with women veterans through Tampa Crossroads to build the first Platinum LEED-certified affordable housing in the southeast servicing women veterans.
“Pat Kemp has made a positive difference in the lives of so many families throughout Tampa Bay,” Hunter stated. “She places the needs of others first, as her service on the Commission and in the nonprofit community demonstrates. Commissioner Kemp is an example for all of us of servant leadership in action. I am thankful for her support.”
Hunter, a Democrat, announced his candidacy January 2 for the seat currently held by Republican incumbent Gus Bilirakis.
The congressional district includes part of northwest Hillsborough County, north Pinellas County, and all of Pasco County.
